Valer Barna-Sabadus (Counter-tenor)

| The Romanian-born countet-tenor, Valer Barna-Sabadus, was born in 1986 in Romania and moved to Germany in 1991. He grew up in a family of musicians, where he also received his first lessons in violin and piano. At the early age of 17, he began his training as a countertenor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, studying with Gabriele Fuchs.Apart from appearing in numerous concerts within and outside the University, the Valer Barna-Sabadus interpreted the title role of George Frideric Handel’s Rinaldo in St. Pölten in 2007, together with the Baroque ensemble Capella Incognita. As a member of the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding, he appeared as a singer and actor at the theater festival Spielart in its production of Treffen. In 2008, he sang the roles of Endimione in Giuseppe Antonio Bernabei’s opera Diana amante at the Barocknacht Olching and Puck in an open air production of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen with the Chamber Orchestra of Lower Bavaria, among others. In addition, he was heard at the reopening of Munich’s Reaktorhalle in November 2008, participating in the first performance of Jan Müller-Wieland’s dream scenarioAventure Faust.As a concert performer, Valer Barna-Sabadus has been heard as a soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Banat Philharmonic in Timisoara and at the Ingolstadt Organ Festival, where a series of CD recordings featuring him were made, including Robert Maximilian Helmschrott’s new work Omnia. |
