Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes after the Calbuco volcano in southern Chile erupted for the first time in 42 years.
A huge cloud of ash reaching 6 miles (10km) into the sky has carpeted the surrounding region as authorities have sought to clear people living within a 13 mile (21km) radius.
