Le mura di Malapaga è un film del 1949 diretto da René Clément, vincitore dell’Oscar al miglior film straniero.
Presentato in concorso al 3º Festival di Cannes, vinse il premio per la migliore regia e il premio per la migliore interpretazione femminile.[1]
Location del film sono le storiche mura di Genova che si snodano intorno all’antica piazza Cavour di Genova.
Trama
Pierre (Jean Gabin), sbarca nel porto di Genova dal piroscafo, su cui sta fuggendo dalla Francia dove ha ucciso l’amante, per farsi curare il mal di denti.
Accompagnato dal dentista da Cecchina (Vera Talchi) e derubato dei soldi decide di costituirsi. Prima si attarda però a mangiare nella trattoria dove lavora Marta (Isa Miranda) madre di Cecchina.
La donna preferisce vivere tra le macerie della città bombardata piuttosto che tornare a Nizza dal marito che nonostante la separazione vuole riprendersi la figlia.
Marta si sente attratta da Pierre, con lui potrebbe iniziare una nuova vita ma lui è un ricercato e la polizia alla fine riesce ad arrestarlo. Unico sostegno della donna resta la figlia.
